A myriad of professors believe that technology uses in younger people disable them from preforming at highly intellectual levels. But in the article New Literacy by Clive Thompson he contradicts the statements of the others professors.Thompson states that since the younger generation is accustomed to altering writing according to audience they are better writers then previous generations, because we are highly trained at differentiating writing styles . Today's writers are far more advanced than previous because writing through technologies like texting and writing on Facebook abilifies quick profound thinking required for in depth writing. Although Thompson doesn't directly say he leaves the impression that, although we write simplistically the writing still trains us to write in a more complex manner. Thompson obviously believes that the proclaimed "blabbering"has given my generation broader opportunities as advanced writers. Even though we are unaware of the affects that the technology has it is constantly refining the way we think into more advanced through patterns that becomes beneficial to our writing.
Personally I think that technology has had a drastically positive affect on the writing skills of younger people. At the point in which we have first wrote a piece that has a positive outcome it installs a feeling of pride. When a younger writer receives this satisfaction they better understand the joys of writing. Regardless of the style of writing chosen we still seek the same glorification through every writing piece. So not only are we constantly practicing writing we're anticipating the response of our writing. When the happiness we first learned through writing for ourselves and friends it leaves with remnants of the positive feelings. Writing in any manner is still good practice for the more legitimate types of writing . Also, through constant writing we become more comfortable with the process. Constantly writing at a 24/7 basis it becomes a normal habit . It's easier to complete tasks that we do often . Even though we write in different fashions the process remains the same. First we decide who it is we are writing for, the purpose we have for our writing, and the outcome we hope the writing will have. When going through this process without even an awareness it becomes easier to write for academic proposes. I do realize that those who may object believe that writing without consideration of correct transitions, grammar, and sentence fluency can disable us from writing with the correctness when needed. Therefor they believe that all of our writing despite the formality will have the same imperfections. Because, when we do something in a repetitive manner it becomes the only way we can write. Yet, I disagree with this theory because we are always writing for variant audiences . With disregard to the way we chose to write we first we learned to write with academic purposes . Although we don't always write for these reasons we never unlearn to write in a formal matter. Also, schools and other sources have us continually practicing correct writing. Still others argue that we can only train ourselves to write in one manner; but we obviously don't write the same in the S.A.T's as we would do in a text. So we know how to write in a interchangeable pattern according to audience. This is important because it proves we can can write in multiple styles. I conclude that technology through time has taught us to become more fluent writers.
